Description

PLEASE NOTE THAT THESE COINS ARE EITHER PCGS OR NGC GRADED AS MS64 CONDITION AND WILL BE FROM YEARS OF OUR CHOICE, ALL 1840-1907 TO FULFILL YOUR ORDER BASED ON OUR INVENTORY.

The US Mint has a long history when it comes to minting gold coins, one that stretches back farther than most other mints from around the world. The $2.5 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle is guaranteed to be in Mint State 63 and ships encased in its slab. The grade of the coin is guaranteed to be authentic by either the PCGS or NGC. The slabs in which these coins ship are meant to protect the coin, but they also serve to display the coins grade and year of minting.

Coin Highlights:

  • Contains .12094 oz of .900 pure gold.
  • Bears a face value of $2.50 (USD) fully backed by the federal government.
  • Available in Mint State 63 grade.
  • Coin condition certified by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation or Professional Coin Grading Service.
  • Struck by the United States Mint between 1840 and 1907.
  • Designed by Christian Gobrecht.
  • Available in a sealed, protective plastic slab courtesy of the NGC or PCGS.

The $2.5 Liberty Head Quarter Eagle is a particularly small coin and, as you can see, has an unusual 2.5 dollar face value. These coins were minted by the US mint between 1840 and 1907. The Liberty Head is comprised of 90% pure gold and contains approximately .12094 troy ounces of the metal. The coins obverse depicts Lady Libertys profile image. Lady Liberty has her hair curled and is wearing a coronet that boasts the inscription Liberty. The obverse side also has an inscription marking the year in which the coin was minted. The coins reverse is dominated by the image of an American eagle who is clutching arrows and an olive branch in its talons while wearing a protective shield across its chest. Around the outer edges of the reverse is an inscription that reads United States of America as well as the $2.5 face value marking.

One thing that stands out about the Liberty Head Quarter Eagle is the extreme level of intricacy found on a coin that is both so old and so small. Because of its high level of purity and the fact that it has not been produced for over 100 years, the coin is sought after by both investors and collectors alike. Prior to the coins shipping, it will be secured and protected as to avoid any and all damage from occurring during transit. Taking the protection of your wall street one step further, all dispatched packages are fully insured against the unlikely occurrence of damage or loss.
