The obverse side of the coin draws its inspiration from a Benjamin West painting and features the image of Lady Liberty facing leftwards. The coronet on Lady Libertys head features the inscription liberty while the bottom of the obverse side features an inscription marking the year in which the coin was minted. The coins reverse features the image of an American eagle who is clutching arrows and an olive branch in his talons. The eagle also has a protective shield across its chest. The United States of America and $5 inscriptions are also found on the coins reverse side.
