The Britannia 1-oz Lunar Ram is the first silver coin series struck by The Royal Mint using their new privy marked rim technique to deter counterfeiting.
The Lunar Britannia features a total of eight iconic Year of the Sheep or Ram or Goat emblems from the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

The obverse design of QEII effigy wearing the “Girls of Great Britain and Ireland” diamond tiara is known as the “Fourth Portrait” and designed by Ian Rank-Broadley (IRB).
The reverse design of Britannia, with her flowing hair and gown, is completed with a trident in one hand, a Corinthian helmet on the head, a shield resting under her left, and an olive branch in her hand symbolizing her quest for peace, by the engraver Philip Nathan.
