The United States Mint first released the $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins in 1838 and continued to produce them until 1907. Because of their brief mintage, obtaining these coins, especially the few that are still in good condition, has become increasingly difficult. Fortunately, Wall Street Metals is pleased to present you with its collection of MS64 $10 Liberty Gold Eagle Coins.
All coins created from this series have gold content of .48375 troy oz. and have received a MS64 (Mint State 64) grade from the PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service). MS64 graded coins are considered to demonstrate an above average condition with only a few light contact marks and hairline marks to diminish their original luster. In order to protect its certified mint state, each coin has been individually sealed in its PCGS certified case.
The front design of the liberty eagle coin draws fuses Greco-Roman art aesthetics with a beloved American icon. For instance, the portrait of Lady Liberty has been done in profile with the thirteen stars and mintage date encircling her much like portraits of rulers and deities featured on currency on ancient Greek and Roman currency. Even her ornately pinned hair mimics those of the women featured in classical sculptures and paintings.
In contrast, the design on the reverse side is pure Americana with the Great Seal of the United States inscribed across its center. This emblem depicts the bald eagle stretching its wings from behind a large shield. Its talons grasp an olive branch and a set of arrows as an illustration of the peace our nation strives for as well the measures we must take to protect it. A banner with the words E Pluribus Unum printed on it hovers above the eagle. The In God We Trust motto may vary from coin to coin depending on its year of mintage. The motto only appeared after a design change in 1866.
