When you look at the reverse side of the all-new British Gold Britannia Coins, you will find that the Royal Mint has included four advanced security elements to keep the Britannia coinage protected from counterfeiting efforts. These include a latent security feature, tincture lines, surface animation, and micro text.
The latent security feature changes its central image as you adjust the angle of viewing, changing between a closed padlock and the trident head as held by Britannia. The tincture lines are found on the stripes of the Union Jack flag on Britannias shield. The inner design element is surrounded by a circle with micro text inscribed within it, while the background field has a new animation element that makes the waves appear to roll just like the sea as you move the coin around in your hand.
Queen Elizabeth II features on the obverse of British Gold Britannia Coins. This design is the fifth-generation portrait of the Queen to feature on British coins and was developed in 2015 by Jody Clark.
Britannia is depicted on the reverse of 1/2 oz Gold Britannia Coins just as she was created in 1987 by Philip Nathan. This powerful image of Britannia depicts her as a safeguard of the British Isles. She stands along the coast with a trident in hand and a shield at the ready to defend her homeland.
